Pamlico County Comprehensive Transportation Plan Study
This plan is a joint effort between Pamlico County,
the North Carolina Department of Transportation
(NCDOT) and the Down East Rural Planning
Organization (RPO). This study has just begun and is
in the initial data collection stage.
This plan shall be based on the best information
available including, but not limited to, population,
economic conditions, traffic trends and patterns of
land development in and around the County. This
plan shall provide for the safe, efficient,
cost-effective and environmentally sensitive use of
the transportation system while addressing current
and future travel needs.
Update June 3, 2010:
The Pamlico County CTP was unanimously adopted by
the Pamlico County Board of Commissioners on
November 2, 2009. The Pamlico County CTP was adopted
by the Town of Alliance on October 12, 2009; by the
Town of Arapahoe on June 3, 2010; by the Town of
Bayboro on October 20, 2009; by the Town of Minnesott Beach on November 10, 2009; by the Town of
Oriental on October 6, 2009; and by the Town of
Vandemere on October 19, 2009.
The Pamlico County CTP was endorsed by the Down East
Rural Planning Organization (DERPO) on December 1,
2009. The Transportation Planning Branch (TPB)
recommended the mutual adoption of the Pamlico
County CTP on January 28, 2010. The North Carolina
Board of Transportation adopted the Pamlico County
CTP on March 4, 2010.
