The work covered by this section consists of furnishing and installing all materials necessary to construct concrete foundations for light standards and post top standards.
All materials shall be new and in accordance with Article 14004(I).
The foundation design shown on the plans is based upon placing foundations into undisturbed soil or fill of at least medium density. The Engineer will stake each location and determine the top of foundation elevation unless indicated differently elsewhere in the specifications. The foundation type and depth will be determined by the plan details in accordance with the final soil and slope conditions at each location.
Light standard foundations, which are an integral part of a barrier, shall have the pedestal portion concrete poured monolithic with the barrier portion. The barrier portion shall be constructed as specified in other sections of the specifications and plans, and shall be continuous through the foundation.
Where rock creates a conflict with construction of the standard foundations, the Contractor may construct an alternate foundation if approved by the Engineer.
