The work covered by this section consists of furnishing, constructing, painting, maintaining, and removal of a asphalt island with tubular markers in accordance with the plans and specifications.
All materials shall meet the requirements of Division 10 shown below:
Work Zone Raised Asphalt Island Article 1089-12
The provisions of Article 11053 will be applicable to the work covered by this section.
The work zone asphalt island shall be constructed as shown in the plans.
Tubular markers shall be anchored to a block of wood (or other approved method) placed within the raised asphalt island on 50 feet centers along the length of the asphalt island, and shall be of the type shown in the plans.
The work zone asphalt island shall be painted with 2 coats of yellow pavement marking paint prior to initiating two-lane, two-way operation. The first coat shall be applied as soon as the island is built. A second coat shall be applied after the asphalt has cured, or as directed by the Engineer.
The provisions of Article 11054 will be applicable to the work covered by this section.
Repainting of the asphalt island and/or cleaning or replacing the tubular markers shall be done when so directed by the Engineer.
The quantity of work zone asphalt island to be paid for will be the actual number of linear feet of work zone asphalt island, which has been satisfactorily constructed, including tubular markers, maintained, removed and accepted by the Engineer.
The quantity of work zone asphalt island, measured as provided in Article 11755, will be paid for at the contract unit price per linear foot for "Work Zone Asphalt Island". Such price and payment will be full compensation for all work covered by this section including but not limited to constructing, painting, maintaining and removing the asphalt island and tubular markers.
