Procedure for Traffic Noise Analysis

  1. Preliminary Office work (Before Fieldwork) - Predicted noise level and contours are computer and sound level equipment is checked.
  2. Fieldwork - All Receptors In Vicinity Of Project are identified based on noise level contours and sufficient noise levels are taken to quantify acoustical environment.
  3. Office work related to field Date - Noise level data is downloaded to PC and ambient noise levels are determined for the project area.
  4. Office work related to noise exposures - Number identified structure on map so a table listing all pertinent information can be created so that ambient and predicted noise levels can be computed with the associated increase of the project. determine and prepare summary tables for traffic noise level impacts and project level increase.
  5. Office related to noise impacts - Determine areas of impacted receptors. Determine all feasible, reasonable and cost-effective noise mitigation measures for the proposed project per NCDOT Traffic Noise Abatement Policy.
  6. Document Findings - Review and document traffic noise impacts and mitigation measures in report format with appropriate supporting data, i.e. figures & tables.
