| SUBJECT: | Pot Bearing Heights |
Attached are revised charts to be used when detailing pot bearings. To accommodate AASHTO requirements now in effect, the bearing height and total height values have been increased for those bearings subjected to loads greater than or equal to 200 kips (889 kN).
This policy is effective immediately for all plans not yet printed for advertisement. For plans including these pot bearings let after May 2000, consult with Engineering Development to determine if a plan revision is required. If a project affected by this revision has been advertised but not yet let to contract, do not issue an addendum; instead, issue a plan revision after award of the contract. The Design Manual will be updated at a later date.
