For those projects requiring top-down construction of cored slab spans, the following design criteria shall be followed.
To accommodate crane loads, bearing to bearing span lengths shall be limited to 50 ft. (15.2 m). Additionally, all cored slab spans requiring top-down construction shall be designed for an HS25 (MS22.5) live load.
This policy is effective immediately, including all those projects currently under design. The Microstation Cored Slab Program and the Design Manual will be updated at a later date.
