Due to confusion stemming from the February 10, 1999 memorandum regarding coordination with the Soils and Foundation Section, the following guidelines clarify the coordination process for stream crossings.

For all stream crossings, send the verification letter and request for subsurface investigation to the Geotechnical Unit as soon as the bent locations from the Hydraulics Report are resolved. Refer to the October 19, 1998 memorandum for specific instructions. Immediately after sending the letter and request to the Geotechnical Unit, prepare a Preliminary General Drawing and send it, along with the letter requesting final Foundation Recommendations, to the Soils and Foundation Section. Refer to the February 10, 1999 memorandum for further instructions and a copy of the request form letter.

The Policy and Procedure Manual will be updated at a later date.
