Roadway Design Question and Answer Forum

General

Update:
A new utility has been created that should be very useful. This program copies the level name of any selected element onto the clipboard. Since the level name is a text string, any application like UltraEdit, NotePad, Word, Excel, Microstation Wordprocessor, Key In field, some Geopak processes and others that use the system clipboard to store and retrieve data, can use this feature. In Roadway, our input file, like Criteria and Earthwork inputs, require users to manually keyin level names. This tool should help with efficiency and accuracy. To activate this program, go to the RD_DSN tool frame and locate the the RD_VBA tool family (2nd column, 2nd row). Select the 2nd tool box.

After the program has been successfully loaded, a message will appear at the lower left corner.

Select any Microstation graphical element by clicking on it.

Notice that the message confirms the level name that was selected. Also the same level name is being copied to the system's clipboard and stored.
For this demo, a Criteria input file is opened in UltraEdit and the level name pasted there.

Ctrl+V also pastes the level name at the same location.

One thing worth mentioning is if you select a cell element, before complex status has been dropped, it will store the cell name. That's because a cell can have more than one level name.

To end the program, just reset with the right mouse button or choose another Microstation tool. Try it on other applications like Geopak Cross Section Composition, Excel, or NotePad. Possibilities are endless.
