Question:
I have an eight mile Safety Improvement Project mainly upgrading the inside and outside shoulders with an
overlay of 3" to the existing pavement. For Criteria I am using configuration 1, disregarding the
superelevation rate and profile elevation data from the Geopak shapes and using just the existing ground
information. Currently Criteria does not draw the 3" overlay from the proposed EOT to EOT. How can resurfacing
on top of existing pavement be shown with Criteria?
Answer:
The following table illustrates the relationship between the Criteria widening template configurations
(1 to 3) and Geopak shapes.
Traditionally, since the Geopak shape profile elevation and superelevation rate are not used in the widening
template configuration 1, Criteria does not draw the resurfacing work being done on top of the existing
pavement. With the new updated Criteria files, Criteria now offers as an option to show the overlay of surface
course on top of the existing pavement with a redefinable variable, "TM01 Show Overlay".
By default, "TM01 Show Overlay" is defined as "0" (zero), meaning the surface course overlay is not shown,
as it has always been.
