Overlay Tools
Introduction
Overlay tools are a set of Roadway Designer tool used
primarily to aid Engineers in setting a resurfacing grade for their
TIP Projects. Overlay tools include:

- Build Widening and Wedging Templates

Minimizing Pavement Wedging Quantities

Incorporating Milling into the Model

Correct, Upgrade, or Match Existing Cross Slopes (Superelevation)

Upgrade Existing Facilities with Smooth Proposed Grade
(Resurfacing)
The Overlay Tools can be used as early as in the functional
phase of design. They are accessible when these conditions are met:

Template with Overlay/Stripping Component
-
Corridor with Template Dropped
-
Display Mode (lower right corner of Roadway Designer)
is set to "Overlay"

Overlay Tools are used on top of existing pavement (resurfacing) and
below existing pavement (milling).
