Create Template Overview

In general, the Create Template dialog is used to create, edit, manage and preview Roadway Templates, Components and End Conditions. All data created and modified in Template Library is stored as ITL file.

Main Feature of Create Template Dialog:

• Project Template Library (Tree)
• Active Template View Window
• Template Library Tabs (Library / Active Template)
• Template Preview Window
• Current Template (Name & Description)
• Display (Components / Constraints)
• Option to "Test" Template

How to Start "Create Template"

File / Edit - Dropdown Menus

New - Dropdown Menu
New / Folder :		Creates a New Folder in the template library.
New / Template Library :		Creates a New Template Library.
New / Template :		Creates a New Template in the template library.
Open :		Used to Open the current template library
Save :		Used to Save the current template library
Save As :		Used to Save the current template library to a different name.
Import Template... :		Used to Import Microstation graphics into a Template.
Close :		Used to Close the create template dialog window (If Template Library has been
		modified, the user will be prompted to Save Changes before exiting).
Edit - Dropdown Menu
Undo :		Used to Undo the last edit of the current template.
Redo :		Used to Redo the last edit of the current template
Cut :		Used to Cut the selected template or folder from template library and place it in
		the paste buffer.
Copy :		Used to Copy the selected template or folder into the paste buffer
Paste :		Used to Paste the content of the paste buffer in the template library
Delete :		Used to Delete the selected template or folder from the template library.
Rename :		Used to Rename the selected template or folder.
Clear :		Used to Clear (or erase) all of the points and components in the current template.

Add / Tools - Dropdown Menus

Add - Dropdown Menu
Simple :		Used to add a Simple component to a template.
Constrained :		Used to add a Constrained component to a template.
Unconstrained :		Used to add a Unconstrained component to a template.
Null Point :		Used to add a Null Point to a template.
End Condition :		Used to add a End Condition component to a template.
Overlay/Stripping :		Used to add a Overlay/Stripping component to a template.
Tools - Dropdown Menu
Template Library Organizer :		Use this dialog to easily move (drag & drop) templates from one template
		library to another. This command can also be used to copy templates from
		a (IRD) roadway design into a template library.
Apply Feature Name Override :		Sets the Feature Name Override property on a group of points.
Apply Component Name Override :		Use this dialog to set the Component Name Override property on a
		group of points.
Options :		Displays Template Options dialog which allows the user to specify
		naming and step options for the current template. Use the Dynamic dialog
		to toggle these settings on/off.
Dynamic Settings :		Use this dialog to specify Precision Input. Step locks are overridden
		when snapping to an existing point or component.
Template Library Report (itl File) :		Displays the Bentley Civil Report Browser to view the available template
		library

Template Library Organizer Overview

Allows the user to bring in predefined templates from the Roadway Standard Template Library (NCDOT_RDY_STANDARD.itl) into the Project specific Template library (stored in ITL).

How to Access "Template Library Organizer..."

• Under Create Template / Tools dropdown menu, select "Template Library Organizer..."
