Procedures for Setting Up a Project for Corridor Modeling

1.) Copy ITL file into "CorridorModeling" folder
2.) Open Corridor Modeling Design File / Attach Reference Files
3.) Set "Job (GPK)" Directory under Geopak "User Preferences"
   4.) Starting Corridor Modeling

Roadway Design Corridor Modeling Folder Structure
Roadway CADD Support has created a new "CorridorModeling" folder and "RDDBS" sub-folder for each TIP Project Folder. The RDDBS sub-folder contains files used by Roadway Designer and should not be deleted.

What Files Should Be Stored Under The CorridorModeling / RDDBS Folders?

CorridorModeling Folder RDDBS Sub-Folder
  • Corridor Modeling Design File
  • Existing Ground DTM
  • Project Template Library
  • Files generated by Corridor Modeling
  • Proposed 3D DTM File
  •      (such as XIN, ALG & XML)

    Corridor Modeling Seed File
Using “Design File Generator”, create a new 3D Corridor Modeling Design File (naming example: "B1000_rdy_cmd.dgn").

    What is an ITL File?
This file is the collection of templates (or typical sections) used to define the proposed roadway. This is where Components, Templates and End Conditions are created, edited and stored.

We will be using two types of ITL Files:

Master Template Library: NCDOT Standardized Master Template Library

Project Template Library: Project specific Template Library.  Templates will be taken from
"Master Template Library" and copied into the "Project Template
      Library".
Note: When starting a new Project, this file will need to be copied
from the ROADWAY_STDS Workspace into the
                  "CorridorModeling" folder.

    1) Copying ITL file into "CorridorModeling" folder

    • Locate the following directory:

    • From this directory, copy the TIP_rdy.itl file into the "CorridorModeling" folder.

    • Rename TIPXXXX.itl by adding your TIP Project Number.

2.) Open Corridor Modeling Design File / Attach Reference Files

    • Open Corridor Modeling Design File (Example: "b1000_rdy_cmd.dgn")
    • Attach Reference Files (Example: "b1000_rdy_eop.dgn, b1000_rdy_dsn.dgn)

3.) Set "Job (GPK)" Directory under Geopak "User Preferences"

    • Under "Applications" select: ROAD / User Preferences
    • Under "User Preferences" select: COGO Preferences
    • Under "Job (GPK) Directory" choose path for Project GPK Folder

    4.) Opening Corridor Modeling

    • Corridor Modeling can be opened in the two following ways:
