8 - Intermodal Transportation Facilities Highpoint Train Station: (P-2912) Merit Award Winner
Located in the heart of downtown, High Point Train Station has grown along with the city since it was built in 1907. To keep the
Romanesque station comfortable for travelers, NCDOT began restoring the station in 2001. The station, platform, canopy, and
bridge/walkway have all been restored to their original beauty.
The bridge/walkway provides easy access from the train station to High
Point Transit buses. As a multi-modal facility, High Point Train Station offers a convenient and comfortable place for travelers to access
trains and buses in one location. In addition to being a multi-modal center, High Point Train Station serves as an information center during
the Biennial Furniture Market and other city festivals. High Point Train Station offers a beautiful and safe place for people to visit as they
travel across North Carolina by train, bus, or both.
