The "Yes! Yes! We Can Stop Littering" program is unique in the following ways:

First. The program is non-controversial and provides positive benefits for all participants.

Second. The major objectives of the program are being achieved on the "grassroots" level by the participation of third graders from 20 elementary schools. High School Interact Club students from four county high schools are also participating. Students are sharing awareness, knowledge and behavior modification with parents and guardians. The litter bags and anti littering activities practiced in the classroom and neighborhoods spread the message. The litterbags can be used in homes and cars.

Third. Community leaders, educational professionals, small businesses and corporations are achieving objectives of the program at the top levels of the community through awareness and financial and resource report.

Fourth. All third grade students in the Union County Public School System will be tested in the fourth grade for writing composition. This program will be used to complement and prepare the third graders for the fourth grade test requirements. The prewriting activities and writing contest have been incorporated into the curriculum in the areas of Language Arts, Social Studies and Science.
