Changes to Admin > Security
Version 8.2.4 Changes
- STAFF PROPERTIES: Updated the design of the Contractor field so that user is able to delete data by putting focus in the field and hit delete
Version 8.2.2 Changes
- Corrected the Staff Properties window so that adding a Contractor to the Non-DOT block satisfied the requirement for having either a Producer/Supplier, Contractor, or Other Company entered. The field was added in Version 8.2.
- Added the Last Verified Date to the Staff Properties window.
Version 8.2 Changes
- Modified HiCAMS to work with the NCID NG (Next Generation). NCID is currently used to validate logins for the QAP web application.
- Added an indicator Sybase Login to show whether the user has a Sybase account. The User ID can be populated but the user is still not able to login until a Sybase Account has also been created. Sybase Accounts can be requested from Marie Novello or Francine Ward.
- Added a Contractor Directory non-DOT employer search to allow standardization of the data being entered.
- Added a Personnel Nbr field. If this field is populated, the DOT Employee Indicator must be checked. NOTE: A conversion was done with data supplied by Training and Development. If the Personnel Number was populated, the DOT Employee indicator was NOT automatically checked. The Personnel Number will need to be verified when the DOT indicator is checked.
Version 8.1.1 Changes
- Fulfilled a user request to add a Comments box to each Staff Record.
Version 7.2.1 Changes
- Modified system logic to allow expiration of RE and PE staff if they are only associated to Completed and Accepted contracts.
Version 7.0 Changes
- Reduced the Social Security Number field size from 9 characters to 4 to comply with DOT privacy and security guidelines.
Version 6.1 Changes
- The login process has been enhanced to ensure users who change their password prior to expiration will be able to log on, even if they had previously been revoked.
Version 6.0 Changes
To improve system security and to be consistent with State standards, the following changes have been made to the password functionality for the HiCAMS and Vendor applications:
- Passwords expire every 90 days (the first expiration will be 09/16/05, which is 90 days after the 06/18/05 release date).
- Each time a user logs on within 15 days of the password expiring, the message "Your password will expire in ‘n’ days. Do you want to change it now?" will appear. Note: ‘n’ is the number of days left until the password expires
- When there are 3 days (or less) left before the password expires, the message "Your password will expire soon. You must change your password now to continue." will appear.
- HiCAMS passwords cannot be alpha-characters only. They must be at least 6 characters long and now require at least one number or special symbol. The only special symbols accepted in the password are ‘@’, ‘#’, and ‘$’.
Version 5.8 Changes
- A correction has been made to allow assigned Security Officers to create or edit staff records.
Version 5.6 Changes
- The functionality on the Job Title field on the General tab of the Staff [Properties] window has been corrected. It is now possible for authorized users to change a job title from Assistant Resident to Resident Engineer while the staff is currently assigned as Resident Engineer on active contracts.
- Changes have been made to the Staff window to accommodate functionality moved from the Review Technician Certification window. There is now an Edit Staff button available from the Review Technician Certification window that will allow users to add/edit Division, Supervisor, Mobile/Pager Phone, Non-DOT, Staff Home and Mailing address fields for the Technician being reviewed.
- The Staff Properties window has also been updated to add edit requirements to the General and Address tabs (Staff Home Address, Staff Mailing Address sections). It is still not necessary to enter phone numbers when saving a record. However, a change has been made to the field that will display an error message if any information is entered in the phone, fax and/or mobile number fields (field is not left blank). HiCAMS will now require that these fields be entered completely before the record can be saved.
Version 5.4 Changes
- Implemented Redesign of the Staff and Security windows. Changes include the following:
- Multiple select (CTRL and SHFT functions).
- Confirm prompt when moving staff.
- Added Row Counts
- Changed Name label on Staff Members search window to Last Name; to avoid confusion.
- Added Wildcard search functionality to the Last Name field. Using a "*" will match any number of characters whereas the "?" will match only one character.
- Added column for Nickname to Staff window.
- Implemented Split Scroll bars
- When filter status is set to All, expired Security Organizations and Staff appear at the bottom of the list. This default sort order can be overridden with clicksorting or using the Sort functionality.
- Filter status remains when switching from group to group.
- Additional information about working with the redesigned windows can be found in the User Guide entitled "Security Procedures" found under the section References on the HiCAMS web site (http://www.ncdot.org/it/projects/hicams/).
Version 5.3 Changes
- A new function called Reassign Queries has been added to the RT-Click pop-up. This will allow Security Czars (Randy Pace, Lamar Sylvester, Francine Ward, and Marie Novello) to assign Private Queries from one user to another.
- In an effort to eliminate the entry of duplicate users in the Staff Table, HiCAMS now displays possible duplicates based on the Social Security Number, and the First and Last names.
- Split the Security Organization "Non-DOT Tech into letter components and distributed staff into these new organizations based on the first letter of their last name.
Version 5.2 Changes
Version 5.1 Changes
- Reactivated the Right Click functionality for Security Administrators to reset a users password.
Version 5.0 Changes
- The list of contracts associated with a user is now available if you right click, choose Staff Properties, and then go to the Staff Properties window to Expire the user. Choosing an expiration date and clicking the OK button causes the list to appear. Previously the list displayed only on the direct selection of Expire Staff using the Right Click.
Version 4.5 Changes
- Expanded the GROUP drop-down listing in Staff Security Tab in order to view complete listing of General DOH Technicians groups. The groupings now available are (A-B), (C-E), (F-H), (I-M), (N-R), (S-T), and (U-Z). The smaller groups allow the interface to return the values in a more timely manner. (This was applied to Production before 4.5 Release.)
- When expiring a Staff Name in the Staff table, the pop up message indicates where the name association can be found.
- Social Security Number field has been added to the Staff table in HiCAMS. It is a required field.
- Division Security Administrators can reset Passwords for their assigned users by Right Clicking on the Staff name and selecting the menu option Reset Password. The password automatically resets to the default.
- NOTE: Users should contact their Division Security Administrators to have their Passwords reset.

Version 4.3.1 Changes
- Security Administration windows in HiCAMS now only display Active staff with the option to view Expired or All staff. (This functionality is similar to staff selection windows.)
Version 4.2 Changes
- The labels on the Address tab of the Staff Properties window of Security now read Home instead of Personalized Address and Company instead of Personalized Mailing Address.
Version 4.0 Changes
- A contract status of Complete no longer prevents you from expiring staff members who are associated with a contract.
- The message you receive when expiring a staff member who is assigned in another part of the system will be descriptive enough to identify where you should un-associate them in another part of the system.
- When changing a Resident Engineer's job title, if the RE is associated with a Pre-HiCAMS Active, Authorized, or Activated contract, you will receive a warning message.
