Driveway Permits may be required when a new driveway is proposed to connect to a State road, or when an existing site that already has a driveway to a State road is modified.
Encroachment Permits are required whenever construction activity is proposed inside the NCDOT Right of Way.
The NCDOT District Engineer’s Offices review driveway permit and encroachment applications and plans to make sure driveway connections and construction activities do not negatively impact the safety and efficiency of the adjacent street traffic.
