Incident Management is the effort to restore traffic flow to normal following incidents (such as traffic crashes, rock slides, disabled vehicles). Division 14's program is two-fold: IMAP and Traveler Information. IMAP (Incident Management Assistance Patrol) is run by the maintenance unit in Haywood County along the 20 miles of I-40 in the Pigeon River Gorge. Traveler Information is posted by traffic engineering staff as it is reported to us by the State Highway Patrol. We can program message signs on I-40 in Asheville and Newport, TN, and on US 19-23-74 in Clyde. We also use two Highway Advisory Radios which are in Clyde and Asheville. These are the devices you hear when you comply with the instruction "Tune To (530 A.M.) When Flashing".
