Greater Triangle Travel Survey
The North Carolina Department of Transportation, the Triangle Transit Authority, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization are jointly funding a comprehensive travel survey of 5,000 households in the Research Triangle region. The survey is being conducted by the Triangle Regional Model Service Bureau of the Institute for Transportation Education and Research and NuStats, with local area assistance from the Louis Berger Group.
The information from the survey will be used to paint a realistic picture of why people travel, as well as how they make their decisions and plan their daily travel activities. The results will be used to update the Triangle regions travel forecast model, which is used by transportation officials to develop long-range transportation plans and to help identify transportation priorities for the region.
