Geopak Graphical Criteria
Automatic Pavement Extension (APE) - Inside Median

GGC Summary

GGC Automatic Pavement Extension (APE) is used to automatically extend the finished grade and subgrade lines to the outside proposed EOT or inside the median. The primary objective of ggc_APE is to minimize the creation of Geopak independent shapes with oblique form in problem areas. These problem areas include at median crossovers, at bulb type u-turns, and at driveways (without proposed horizontal and vertical alignments).

In the areas inside of the median, the element which represents the edge of proposed travel way limits can be copied into the active GGC DGN file.Usually this is the green EOT line in the DSN file on level named "Prop EOT". If this green proposed EOT element is not present in the GGC file and not at the current cross section, then the automatic pavement extension is performed to the centerline. If this green proposed EOT element is present, then the automatic pavement extension is performed to EOT line.

If the default superelevation rate value of 9.999 is used, then pavement is extended using the Geopak shape superelevation. A valid custom superelevation rate between -0.120 (ft/ft) to 0.120 (ft/ft) can be used to override the default Geopak shape superelevation rate. If the pavement is extended to the centerline using a custom superelevation rate on one side of the median, then use the same custon superelevation rate for the other side of the median, in order for the finished grade and subgrade lines to connect to each other. For instance, if the left side custom superelevation rate is -0.010, the the right side custom superelevation rate should also be -0.010.

GCC ADHOC ATTRIBUTES

  1. ggc_APE Location *
  2. ggc_APE Label
  3. ggc_APE Super Rate

* Value for ggc_APE Location is locked from being edited when intially placed by the D&C Manager. However, the Geopak Adhoc Attribute Managers can be used after placement to modify the value. It is NOT recommended the value for adhoc attribute ggc_APE Location be modified in anyway or manner. If ggc_APE Location is modified, Criteria may not work properly.

Description
ggc_APE Location

Inside Median (locked)

Work is done in the vicinity of the median.
ggc_APE Label
No Label
If the text value in not "No Label", then the text string is used to label the pavement extension.
ggc_APE Super Rate
9.999
If the numeric value in 9.999, then the original Geopak shape superelevation rate is used. If the numeric value in not 9.999, then a valid custom superelevation rate between -0.120 (ft/ft) to 0.120 (ft/ft) is used.
