Paul Morris

Paul Morris, FASLA, is the Deputy Secretary for Transit for the N.C. Department of Transportation and is responsible for the department’s five multimodal divisions: Aviation, Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation, Ferry, Public Transportation and Rail. He also serves as the central point of contact for transportation initiatives involving the Global TransPark, North Carolina Railroad and the Ports Authority.

A licensed landscape architect and a member of the American Planning Association, Morris’ project and professional experience include work on more than 400 planning projects in the areas of land use and transportation planning, transit-oriented development, urban regeneration and development, sustainable community development, ports and marine development, natural resource management, parks and public places development and corporate and institutional facility development. In North Carolina, Morris worked on transit-oriented development planning along the LYNX Blue Line corridor in Charlotte and consulted on land use and transportation planning for Triangle Transit in Raleigh.

Morris is a 1984 graduate of the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture. He also holds a graduate certificate in innovations in zoning, planning and development from Harvard University, as well as a graduate certificate in disaster response and public assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute.
