La Nica T. Allison - Deputy Secretary for Intergov. Affairs and Budget Coordination

La Nica Allison oversees the Governor’s Highway Safety program, strategic planning, transportation planning, state and federal legislative affairs, policy and procedure administration, civil rights, business opportunity and workforce development and Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions of Higher Education.

Allison has more than 17 years of experience in management and operations in private business, consulting and public sector organizations, including work as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She began her career as chief operating officer of a 501(c) 3 rural county nonprofit organization.

Prior to joining NCDOT, she was a policy analyst for Gov. Pat McCrory’s transition team, responsible for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Administration.

As the Deputy Secretary of Intergovernmental Affairs, she will oversee the Governor’s Highway Safety program, strategic planning, transportation planning, state and federal legislative affairs, and policy and procedure administration.

A North Carolina native, she earned a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Duke University.
